Deadline calculator: Slovakia

Work out the day a deadline ends under the rules the authorities count by, and how many working days lie between two dates. Country — Slovakia: its public holidays are taken into account.

We count the way authorities count deadlines: administrative, tax and court ones. The day of the event is not counted, and a last day that falls on a weekend or a public holiday moves to the next working day. A deadline in a contract may be counted differently — switch the shift off for that.

How a deadline is counted

Three rules, the same in all four countries. The day of the event is not counted: eight days from 1 March end on 9 March. A deadline in weeks or months ends on the day with the same name or number, and where the month has no such day, on its last day: one month from 31 January ends on 28 February. If the last day falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday, the deadline ends on the next working day.

Slovakia: § 27 of the administrative procedure act (správny poriadok, 71/1967 Zb.); the same rule is in the tax procedure code (§ 27 daňového poriadku) and the Civil Code (§ 122).

Not covered: deadlines in hours, the rule about posting on the last day, court holidays and regional holidays. For a deadline that much depends on, check the date with a lawyer.
