Slovakia detects unlawful housing-compensation claims involving temporary-protection holders

Cases are increasing in Slovakia in which property owners receive state compensation for temporary-protection holders who do not actually live in the declared accommodation. Authorities have also recorded cases where owners collect both the compensation and rent for the same period.

The Interior Ministry reminded providers of the programme’s conditions and warned that violations may lead to criminal liability. According to the ministry, some cases are already before the courts.
