Romania issued 1,918 permits to temporary protection beneficiaries in the first half of September

Romanian immigration police issued 9,270 residence permits in the first half of September 2026. Of these, 7,352 were temporary or long-term permits under the general rules, while another 1,918 were documents for temporary protection beneficiaries. At that time, immigration accommodation centres were 49% occupied.

During the same period, the service carried out 222 operations, checks and inspections nationwide. It found 108 foreign nationals with irregular status: 32 were returned, eight were placed in public custody centres, and other measures were taken for the rest or they were advised to regularise their residence. The authorities imposed 48 administrative penalties for the violations found.
