Portugal launches construction training and internships for migrants

AIMA, together with the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training, IEFP, industry organisations and the Ageas Foundation, launched the Integrar para a Construção programme. It is intended for migrants with lawful status, applicants for and beneficiaries of international protection, and people with temporary protection in Portugal. Its goal is to help with transition or return to the labour market in construction.

The programme includes 300 hours of technical training and 300 hours of workplace internship. Fields include electrician assistance, plumbing, carpentry, plasterboard and ETICS, construction machinery, painting and finishing. Participants may receive a training allowance, food or a food allowance, transport support, personal-accident insurance and personal protective equipment. Under AIMA's plan, the programme will cover 500 participants in 25 training groups in 2026–2027; the second cycle is scheduled for September 2026 and the third and fourth for the first half of 2027.
