Poland to change spa-treatment rules from 2027

From 1 January 2027, Poland will change the organisation and financing of spa treatment. Facilities will be able to design more individual programmes based on a patient’s age, diagnosis, the spa’s treatment profile and available capacity, while requirements for guaranteed services will remain in force.

The NFZ will also remove a 5% adjustment bonus that it says did not produce measurable quality improvements. The change will leave about PLN 118 million in the budget; annual funding for spa treatment exceeds PLN 2.3 billion.
