Dutch inflation rises to 3.3% in August

Consumer prices in the Netherlands rose by 3.3% in August 2026 compared with August 2025. Annual inflation was 3.2% in July. Prices increased by 0.3% over the month. The main reason for the acceleration was spending by Dutch consumers abroad, which rose by 7.4% over the year after 4.8% in July. Higher gas prices also contributed.

Under the EU harmonised index, inflation in the Netherlands was 2.8%, compared with 3.3% in the euro area. Food, beverages and tobacco in the Netherlands were 0.5% cheaper than a year earlier, energy including motor fuels was 11.7% more expensive, and services were 3.4% more expensive.
