31,069 arrivals from Ukraine were in employment in Ireland in May 2026

Ireland’s Central Statistics Office counted 84,739 temporary-protection beneficiaries from Ukraine with recent activity in administrative data as of 23 June 2026. This was 69% of the 122,636 PPS numbers issued to the group. The CSO warns that this is an experimental measure of signs of presence, not an exact population register.

In May 2026, 31,069 people had employment income and average weekly earnings were €573. Accommodation and food services were the most common sector, at 23%. Of 55,350 people who attended Intreo events, 28,844, or 52%, cited English proficiency as a barrier to employment.

In the 2025/2026 school year, 17,385 protected arrivals from Ukraine were enrolled in primary or secondary school: 10,221 in primary and 7,164 in secondary education. A further 10,988 people were in further education or training on 1 June, including 7,668 in English-language courses.
