Czechia changes temporary-protection rules for some applicants

The Information Portal for Foreigners reported that, from 5 August 2026, Czechia changed the conditions for people aged 18–60 who are subject to military duties in Ukraine. For a first or repeat temporary-protection application, or an application for family cohabitation, they must be registered in the Reserv+ app and prove compliance with their military duties. Without that proof, temporary protection will not be granted.

According to the portal, the new rule does not apply to people who already had valid temporary protection on the date of the decision. It will also not apply during the extension of temporary protection until 31 March 2028. The extension itself, as before, involves online registration and a personal visit to a Ministry of the Interior office for a new visa sticker.
