Belgian inflation rises to 3.97% in August

Inflation in Belgium based on the consumer price index was 3.97% in August 2026, compared with 3.56% in July and 3.40% in June. The index rose by 0.41 points, or 0.40%, over the month. Inflation based on the health index increased from 3.22% to 3.44%, while core inflation slowed from 3.13% to 2.99%.

Natural gas, motor fuels, clothing, electricity and domestic heating oil had the largest upward impact on prices. Plane tickets, household appliances and package holidays had a downward effect on the index. The flash estimate of inflation under the EU harmonised index was 4.2%.
