Belgium issued 2,108 temporary protection certificates in January–May 2026

Belgium’s Immigration Office reports that 2,108 people received temporary protection certificates from January through May 2026. The monthly totals were 521 in January, 449 in February, 440 in March, 358 in April and 340 in May.

Ukrainian citizens received 2,102 of those certificates. The full group included 1,007 men, 1,100 women and one person whose sex was unspecified. Separately, 40 minors were recorded as unaccompanied and referred to the Guardianship Service.

The authority recorded 1,436 temporary-protection refusal decisions during the same five months. Of these, 1,407 concerned Ukrainian citizens. The report presents decision statistics but does not explain the reasons for individual refusals.
