# How to enrol a Ukrainian child in school in Romania

## Who this guide is for

For parents or legal representatives of minors who arrived from Ukraine and are in Romania. The general route applies nationwide; the Education Desk at Romexpo mainly serves Bucharest.

## What to prepare

- An application to enrol the child; ask the school inspectorate or chosen school for the current form and submission method.
- The child’s identity document and birth certificate, if available, plus the parent’s or legal representative’s identity document.
- Available report cards, certificates or other records of schooling in Ukraine. Full pupil status may require translation by an authorised translator and, where requested by the education authority, legalisation.

## What to do, step by step

1. Contact the county school inspectorate \(or ISMB in Bucharest\) or a school to learn where to submit the application and where a place is available in the appropriate grade.
2. Submit the application and available documents. A Ukrainian child may join a Romanian school as an audient so they can attend classes while the remaining formalities are completed.
3. Ask for Romanian-language support. The Ministry states that school inspectorates should create the necessary conditions and provide staff for children who want to learn Romanian.
4. To obtain full pupil status, complete the recognition of prior studies as explained by the inspectorate or school. Confirm in advance which documents need translation or legalisation.

## Fees and deadlines
